Mom takes magical ‘winter princess’ photos of 3-year-old to cherish the ‘little moments’

“In the foothills of the Smoky Mountains we are usually blessed with a decent snow once or twice a year. However, last year was the warmest and driest winter we had in a long time. We had bought a sled in anticipation of snow, but never got a chance to use it.

Last Christmas I bought this dress for my daughter, Ireland, hoping I would have a chance to get some ‘magical’ snow pictures. I had this whole thing envisioned in my head, but I would not be given the chance. So the dress sat in the closet, waiting on a perfect opportunity to be worn. We got some sweet summer shots, but it just wasn’t the same.

Then January of this year we woke up to the most beautiful snow-covered scenery. We finally got to break out the year-old sled, the heavy jackets that were never worn (that somehow still fit from last year), and had snowball fights. That’s when it hit me, this was what I had been waiting on for a year.

I ran to the closet and grabbed ‘the dress,’ and asked Ireland if she wanted to take some ‘winter princess’ pictures. I know it’s nothing monumental or life changing, but seeing my daughter in the dress she loved, in the way I had imagined it, was priceless. She said she felt like Elsa, and had a ball posing, laughing, and throwing snow.
