‘I am a black man. I am a police officer. But I am not Derek Chauvin. And I am not George Floyd. I am ME.’: Police officer shares powerful perspective, ‘I will always have a big heart’

“I listen to rap music. I wear baggie jeans, backwards hats off duty, and have tattoos all over my body. I’ve stepped in and arrested the man that assaulted your grandmother. I’ve given the socks off my feet to a homeless drunk who had no shoes. I am a black man. I am a police officer.”

‘The cold room smelt like bleach. It felt so wrong. ‘She’ll be returned to you in a carboard box.’ We dropped to our knees.’: Mom loses 10-month-old daughter to SIDS

“‘We’re here to see our daughter,’ we croaked. They led us into a room with a small cot. We looked over the side, and there she was, asleep. There was a water drop rolling down her cheek. She looked frozen. We were told, ‘You may not be able to view her in an open casket. It’s already been a while. Also, you may not recieve any of her back.'”

‘I regret this so much. I’ll never see my daughter again.’ My lips turned gray, my skin white. I faded out of consciousness.’: Woman urges ‘it will get better’ after survived suicide attempt, ‘Storms don’t last forever’

“I was always told, ‘You will never be anything.’ My family didn’t believe I was struggling. I was very good at hiding it. When it did show, they called it a ‘phase.’ I convinced myself no one would notice if I was dead. I had made my decision. Nobody could change my mind. In my bedroom, I wrote my goodbyes and I did it. I started going in and out of consciousness. I could see bright colors. My vision went blurry.”
