‘We get a hotel, and we lay down a lot. After putting on comfy clothes and taking bras off of course.’: Mom urges other women to ‘take the girls’ trip to enjoy the ‘simple things’ like ‘naps in the middle of the day

“Take the girls’ trip. Because vacationing with other moms is the best.

Basically, here’s how it goes down.

We meet up in a city. We get a hotel and we lay down a lot.

We get up to eat and then lay down again. After putting on comfy clothes and taking bras off of course.

We fall asleep at 8:30 and wake up at 7 a.m. because our kids messed us up that way.

We don’t judge if someone had to FaceTime their kids loudly in the same room with us and we laugh hilariously when those kids get in a fight on FaceTime and we get to hang. Up. The. Phone. And let our husbands deal with it.

We text each other memes and restaurant menus while we lay down in bed in the same room with each other.

We enjoy the simple things like naps in the middle of the day, and a hot meal where no one is yelling from the other room: ‘wipe my buuuuuttttt!!’

We spend our time planning the next meal where we will make ourselves pretty for two hours and then immediately wash our faces when we get back to the hotel and climb in bed. Again.

We might venture out for a movie or a play in the big city where there are plenty of amazing things to do but we mostly want to be with each other, laugh, and crash because we never get to do that.

We might say, ‘Why am I so tired?’ When we all know the reason already. It’s because our kids freaking wear us out and we don’t get time to think at home much less sit down. So, when we vacation and get to be kid free, we crash. Hard. And mom friends get it.

So, go on the girls’ trip that you’ve been talking about going on with your friends for years.

Yes, it’s annoying to arrange everything before you leave, and it takes a lot of freaking work to make it happen. But women need other women that get them in the way only other moms do.

And bonus, you get to lay down a lot.”
